Thy Photograph Tells A Tale

Lost

Inbetween the pages
A photograph swayed
Shedding colourful memories
Where love once bloomed
Under the mango trees

Home

Far away in distant land
Photograph in a wallet
Sumptuous bits of homely food
He sought for his childhood

Separation

Under the pillow covers
Lay a photograph
Soaked in tears
There stood his husband
Smiling with pride
Somewhere at the borders

  1. Whistles!! ❤💜 This is so beautifully constructed, Anusha. There are so many different layers of emotion in each verse especially 'Sumptuous bits of homely food, he sought for his childhood' and 'Smiling with pride somewhere at the borders' really tug at the heartstrings. Thank you so much for participating at Prompt Nights and for your constant love and support ❤💜

    Lots of love,

  2. I see the life of a photograph, or maybe life as such... separation as necessity..

  3. I love the story this tells -- photos that blend nature & humanity like this do seem to spark so much beauty and emotion. The blending of loss and home is what makes this poem bittersweet. Thanks for sharing.

  8. An interesting separation of images - together they tell a story.

  9. Sometimes much of our story is held in the ink of photographs. Love how you approached this.
